Not only are we being denied one of the most versatile medicines in the world, with known medicinal values dating back to its discovery in roughly 2737 B.C, we are also denied a sustainable, environmentally friendly product that could limit or wipe out the use of harmful plastics and many more industries that have a big impact on our environment.
But with all this information why is it still illegal? Why do they restrict it and make it hard to get? It’s one of the safest drugs to consume yet even when made legal (even just medicinally) it can be a struggle to find a doctor willing to prescribe it as a first option (depending where you are from). From our perspective, it simply comes down to Supply and Demand. We all know how it works, when demand is high you limit a product to increase its value, they do it with diamonds and many other products.
Cannabis is so abundant and easy to grow the prices should be ridiculously low for a high quality product. The fact that governments limit supply by implementing laws that restrict growing and distribution only instills the fact that corruption is still rife within our political systems.
